Are you an experienced finance leader looking for a role that offers genuine strategic influence without requiring a traditional five-day commitment?

Elastomer Products Ltd (EPL) is a successful Christchurch-based manufacturing business with a proud history of innovation, quality, and exporting New Zealand-made products to customers throughout Australasia, Asia, and Europe. With approximately 50 staff and a strong reputation in its sector, EPL is seeking a commercially astute Finance Manager to join its Executive Management Team.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial management and performance of the business while contributing to the strategic direction and future growth of the organisation.

Importantly, this role can be comfortably managed on a four-day-per-week basis, making it an exceptional opportunity for an experienced finance professional seeking flexibility while remaining engaged at a senior leadership level.

About the Role

As Finance Manager, you will lead the finance and administration function and provide commercial and financial leadership across the business. You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure sound financial management, support strategic decision-making, and drive business performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading all financial and management accounting activities
  • Preparing monthly management and Board reports
  • Managing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Monitoring business performance, profitability, and cash flow
  • Providing commercial evaluation of capital expenditure and investment opportunities
  • Managing banking, treasury, foreign exchange, and financial risk
  • Overseeing audit, tax, insurance, and statutory compliance requirements
  • Supporting strategic planning and business improvement initiatives
  • Leading and developing a small finance team

About You

You will be a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with business leaders and contributing beyond the numbers.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting and ideally CA, CPA, or equivalent professional membership
  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar senior finance leadership role
  • Strong financial and management accounting expertise
  • Experience preparing Board and management reporting
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to evaluate business opportunities and investments
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or operational environments would be advantageous
  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach and the ability to operate effectively within a medium-sized business

Why Join EPL?

This opportunity offers the best of both worlds – a senior leadership role with real influence and responsibility, combined with the flexibility of a manageable four-day working week.

In return, you will enjoy:

  • A key leadership role reporting directly to the CEO
  • Active involvement supporting the sales and operations teams
  • The opportunity to influence strategic and commercial decisions
  • A successful and well-established New Zealand manufacturing business
  • Flexible working arrangements and excellent work-life balance
  • A collaborative and values-driven culture

If you are seeking a senior finance position where you can make a meaningful contribution while maintaining flexibility in your working week, we would welcome your application.
