Our client is an established locally based consultancy delivering wide-ranging advice and support to a broad stakeholder base in the agricultural sector. The business provides consultancy services to support farmers with solutions that achieve environmental outcomes while remaining profitable.  As a recognised leader in the industry, and with a strong pipeline of work, we have an opportunity for an experienced Farm Systems Consultant with an environmental lens to join the team.

You will be working with farming clients to understand where they want to take their business, supporting them to get there, and empowering them to proactively innovate and adapt to maintain a sustainable, profitable and resilient farm business.  Your strong working knowledge of Farm Systems and the science and first principles underpinning those systems will be crucial in your success. Your passion to help farmers find a way in a world that is constantly changing will focus you to problem-solve and develop tailored solutions and options that match farmers’ requirements and their future vision.

The Farm Systems Consultant role will progress quickly into team leadership so we are looking for somebody who wants to help our team grow and develop – helping them reach their full capability. Values alignment is fundamental. On this basis, your ability and enthusiasm to lead, grow and support team members will be highly valued.

About You:

  • Relevant degree level qualification
  • Practical farm work experience (across sector if possible)
  • Ability to identify opportunities and adapting service offerings to meet the needs of clients
  • Track record of successfully meeting project/work deliverables
  • Understanding of current and emerging environmental legislative and regulatory requirements that impact farmers
  • Sound working knowledge of nutrient modelling and farm systems software
  • Understanding of national/regional/district policies and regulations
  • Passionate and motivated about making a difference to New Zealand’s agricultural sector
