An opportunity exists for an Assistant Accountant to join their team in this full-time, office based role. This is an excellent opening for someone energetic, motivated, and keen to grow their accounting career while supporting brands that are part of New Zealand’s heritage.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role provides broad support across the finance function and offers exposure to a wide range of accounting activities, including:

• Maintaining accurate general ledger entries
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals and prepayments
• Completing bank, credit card and intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting complex AP/AR transactions, including multi-currency items
• Payroll administration, GST and FBT compliance
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation
• Contributing to month end and year end processes
• Assisting with reporting, dashboards, templates and board papers
• Providing inventory analysis and supporting insurance claims
• Offering additional support to shipping and logistics during peak periods

This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll work closely with a friendly, collaborative team and gain exposure across both operational and technical accounting tasks.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• 1–3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
• Exposure to general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month end tasks
• Experience with AP/AR processes
• An understanding of payroll, GST and FBT
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, organised approach
• A collaborative mindset and confidence working across finance, IT and operational teams
