Open Opportunities
Christchurch, Canterbury
August 6, 2026
- 12 month fixed term contract
- Purpose driven, growing organisation
- Be part of a small, connected team entering an exciting phase of growth
Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP) is a not-for-profit on a bold mission: to restore Aotearoa/New Zealand’s wild places by removing invasive predators and protecting our native wildlife. More than a decade on from their beginnings as an ambitious start-up, ZIP is now a highly capable organisation of passionate practitioners, scientists, engineers and enablers working across some of the country’s most remarkable landscapes – from South Westland’s rainforests to Aoraki/Mount Cook, Rakiura/Stewart Island and Predator Free Wellington.
As ZIP continues to grow and scale its impact, a fixed-term opportunity exists for an Administrator to join this fantastic team. This is a role where your organisational strength, people focus and ability to take ownership will directly support ZIP’s conservation mission and their next phase of expansion.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small, close-knit team where relationships matter and everyone genuinely cares about the mahi. You’ll be based in ZIP’s Christchurch office, supporting staff across Aotearoa and coordinating the logistics that enable fieldwork in some of NZ’s most stunning and ecologically significant regions.
You’ll take ownership of core administrative and operational responsibilities, ensuring the office runs smoothly and the wider team has what they need to deliver at a high standard. In return, you’ll be trusted with autonomy, flexibility and the space to shape how you work.
Your responsibilities will span:
- Coordinating travel, accommodation and logistics for ZIP staff across the country
- Overseeing the vehicle fleet, including bookings, fuel cards, maintenance tracking and repairs
- Supporting meetings and events through preparing agendas, presentations, itineraries, minutes and catering
- General administration, including processing receipts and invoices, managing mail and courier services, and supporting staff with day-to-day needs
- Maintaining office supplies, equipment and facilities, and managing relationships with vendors and service providers
- Assisting with onboarding and basic IT setup for new team members
This is a role with genuine variety, where your initiative, care for quality and ability to take responsibility will be noticed and valued.
About You
You’ll bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a warm, professional communication style. You enjoy being part of a small team with great personalities, where people look out for each other and take pride in their work.
You’re someone who takes ownership, you care about delivering to a high standard, you follow through, and you’re motivated by supporting others. You’re adaptable, comfortable juggling multiple tasks, and happy to step in wherever needed. A willingness to learn and grow your capability will set you up for success.
In return, you’ll be given trust, autonomy and flexibility, along with the support of a team that genuinely values connection, wellbeing and shared purpose.
What’s on Offer
- The chance to support conservation work happening in some of NZ’s most beautiful and remote regions
- A small, connected team culture built on trust, care and collaboration
- Autonomy, flexibility and the opportunity to take real ownership of your role
- Variety, purpose and the chance to contribute to a mission with genuine environmental impact
- The opportunity to support ZIP as they enter an exciting phase of growth
Join a team driven by purpose, innovation and a shared mission, and help support the work that is shaping a predator free future for Aotearoa.
