Christchurch, Canterbury
September 18, 2026
- Ensuring the customer stays central to efforts
- Central Point of Contact for SPEX Operations Globally
- Bringing visibility across Operations and Supply Chain
SPEX hold the view that every customer order represents a person waiting for greater independence, improved mobility or a better quality of life. With a commitment to integrated innovation, quality and excellence, SPEX have established a strong global presence, designing, manufacturing and exporting soft seating for mobility devices to over 30 countries worldwide. SPEX’s driving belief is they are not here simply to manufacture products but more to fulfil promises.
To deliver on their purpose SPEX understand that everything they do must put the customer first. Enabling this requires the voice of the customer to be present and provide the one source of the truth across the business. The essence of the role is to ensure that customer demand and requirements are consistently reflected throughout a robust Sales and Operations planning process that aligns demand, capacity, materials and logistics and ensures continued visibility and prioritisation of commitments to the customer. Success is evidenced in the ability to deliver to specification, on time, with the shortest practical lead time.
Providing input and visibility to Production and Operations planning is one thing, understanding capacity and constraints is another and your ability to co-ordinate, and problem solve across these areas will engage your skills in the art of influence, persuasion, negotiation, leadership and clear communication. Having clear and well considered S&OP’s that are acknowledged by all areas is critical. How you communicate the goals and represent the customer will be key in influencing the right culture.
Coming from a manufacturing environment with understanding of the sales process and what good customer commitment looks like will be strong enablers to your ability to achieve success and deliver on SPEX’s promise to the customer.
This role is key to achieving a fully integrated Operations team and therefore carries both responsibility and strong influence. The opportunity to progress based on success is very real.
