Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP) is a not-for-profit on a bold mission: to restore Aotearoa/New Zealand’s wild places by removing invasive predators and protecting our native wildlife. More than a decade on from their beginnings as an ambitious start-up, ZIP is now a highly capable organisation of 100 practitioners, scientists, engineers and enablers. ZIP works across some of the country’s most remarkable landscapes, from South Westland’s rainforests to Aoraki/Mount Cook, Rakiura/Stewart Island and Predator Free Wellington.

As ZIP continues to grow and scale its impact, a newly created opportunity exists for a Management Accountant to join this team of fantastic humans. This is a role that offers genuine development, variety and the chance to step into broader commercial work while still building on strong accounting foundations.

The Opportunity

This is a great fit for someone who has solid grounding in accounting and is now looking for a role with more scope, more business connection and more opportunity to influence how financial information supports decision making. Whether you’re coming from a CA environment or you already have some commercial experience, this role offers the next step into a more rounded management accounting position.

You’ll take responsibility for core financial accounting and compliance tasks, including monthly accounts, GST returns and reconciliations, reviewing creditor batches, and supporting the annual audit, giving you a strong understanding of ZIP’s financial operations.

Alongside this, you’ll work closely with the Finance Business Partner, project leads and operational teams to:

  • Lead monthly reporting and provide clear analysis of variances and performance drivers
  • Support project leads to understand financial results and make informed decisions
  • Contribute to annual budgeting, and quarterly reforecast processes
  • Improve reporting tools, dashboards and business metrics
  • Provide financial insights to the Board, funders and external partners
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and add value across the organisation

This is a role where you’ll learn quickly, gain exposure across the business, and help shape how financial information supports ZIP’s mission.

About You

You’ll bring strong analytical skills, a good grounding in accounting principles and an interest in stepping further into management accounting, business partnering and insight-driven work. You’ll enjoy working with people across the organisation, translating numbers into meaningful stories and contributing to a collaborative, values driven culture. This role would suit someone who is motivated, curious and ready to grow.

What’s on Offer

  • A hybrid working model based from ZIP’s Lincoln office
  • Travel to some of New Zealand’s most beautiful and ecologically significant regions
  • A chance to use your financial skills for genuine environmental good
  • A supportive, connected and innovative team culture
  • The opportunity to grow with a business entering an exciting phase of expansion

Join a team driven by purpose, innovation and a shared mission and help shape a predator free future for Aotearoa.

Te ahurea o te Tima/The Team Culture:

People – the team, conservation partners and other stakeholders – are always ZIP’s number one priority, without exception. They are caring, connected, empowered and innovative.

ZIPs team culture is about prioritising wellbeing, health and safety, and building strong internal connections. They value open communication, shared ownership, and supporting each other to meet challenges and achieve their conservation mission.
