Parks Garage is a proudly family-owned business and New Zealand’s largest specialist towing operator. With more than 95 years of history, they have built a strong reputation across Canterbury and are now growing their presence in the North Island following the opening of their Wellington depot.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an Accountant to join their finance team.

The opportunity

This is a great role for someone looking to move beyond the basics and build a well-rounded accounting career. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you’ll gain broad exposure across:

• Oversight of the AP, AR, credit control and payroll functions
• Bank reconciliations, banking and cash flow forecasting
• Complex customer invoicing and account management
• Fixed assets, journals and financial analysis
• Month-end reporting and ad-hoc commercial support
• Business systems and process improvement

You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, solve problems, work with different parts of the business and keep developing your technical and commercial skills.

Importantly, this role forms part of a planned succession pathway for the Finance Manager, providing excellent scope for development and the opportunity to progressively take on greater responsibility as your skills and experience grow.

About you

You’ll be recently qualified, nearly qualified, or have strong practical accounting experience and be ready for your next step.

You’ll bring good accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, strong Excel/system skills and a genuine desire to learn. You’ll also enjoy a varied role, working with people and getting involved in a fast-paced operational business.
