A well-established and respected Christchurch organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join the business on an initial 6 month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent for the right person.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance function while ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, strong cashflow management and efficient transactional processing. The position leads a team of four transactional finance staff.

About the Role

This is a broad and varied position where you'll be responsible for:

• Leading and developing a small finance team of four
• Managing month-end and year-end close processes
• Preparing and reviewing management reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensuring the accuracy of AP, AR and inventory accounting activities
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Managing cashflow forecasting, banking and treasury activities
• Overseeing GST, PAYE, FBT and other compliance obligations
• Coordinating annual audit requirements
• Driving process improvements, automation initiatives and stronger financial controls
• Partnering with operational leaders across the business to provide financial insight and support decision-making

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant position
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting expertise
• Experience leading transactional finance teams
• Excellent reconciliation, cashflow and controls experience
• Exposure to audit, taxation and compliance requirements
• A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in systems and process enhancement
