Our client is a well-established and respected Christchurch-based Chartered Accounting firm with a strong reputation for providing high-quality audit, accounting and advisory services to a diverse client base.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Auditor to join their team. This is an opportunity that will particularly appeal to someone who enjoys audit but would also like to broaden their experience beyond traditional assurance work.

A Unique Opportunity

Unlike many audit roles that are focused solely on assurance engagements, this position offers a hybrid structure, allowing you to combine your audit work with hands-on accounting and financial reporting assignments.

Working closely with the firm’s Partners and senior team members, you will gain valuable exposure to both audit engagements and client accounting work. This provides a pathway to develop a more rounded skillset, particularly in areas such as financial reporting, client advisory, and practical business support.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve a mix of:

• Leading and assisting with external audit engagements
• Planning and completing audit assignments across a range of industries
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements
• Supporting clients with financial reporting requirements
• Working directly with business owners and management teams
• Assisting with advisory and accounting assignments where appropriate
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members

The firm works with a broad client base including SMEs, not-for-profits, and growing businesses, providing interesting and varied work.

About You

To be successful in this role you will likely:

• Have 3–5+ years’ experience in external audit within a Chartered Accounting environment
• Be CA qualified or working towards completion
• Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Enjoy working directly with clients and understanding their businesses
• Be interested in broadening your experience beyond traditional audit work

This role is particularly suited to someone who wants to expand their technical accounting and financial reporting capability while still developing their audit career.
