Our client is a large, complex public sector organisation delivering essential services across Aotearoa New Zealand. Operating at scale within a highly regulated environment, it places a strong emphasis on financial stewardship, equity and long-term sustainability, working closely with government agencies and service partners to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities.

Reporting to, and partnering closely with the Group CFO you will lead a high-performing regional finance team and be accountable for end-to-end financial management of the region, including P&L, cash flow, balance sheet integrity, budgeting, forecasting and risk management.

About the role

You will provide strategic financial leadership that supports strong operational decision-making. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the senior financial advisor to the Group CFO and regional leadership team
  • Leading and developing the regional finance team
  • Owning regional P&L, cash flow, balance sheet and financial sustainability
  • Leading budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
  • Supporting business cases and financial analysis
  • Building financial capability across operational leaders
  • Championing strong governance, continuous improvement and compliance

About you

You are an experienced senior finance leader who brings:

  • Relevant graduate and post-graduate qualifications
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent
  • 10–15 years’ experience in senior financial management, including people leadership
  • Proven experience managing large-scale budgets, P&L and financial risk
  • Strong technical expertise and commercial judgement
  • Credibility with senior operational stakeholders
  • The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical insights
  • A collaborative, values-led leadership style and high personal integrity
