Our client is a large, complex public sector organisation delivering essential services across Aotearoa New Zealand. Operating at scale within a highly regulated environment, it places a strong emphasis on financial stewardship, equity and long-term sustainability, working closely with government agencies and service partners to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities.
Reporting to, and partnering closely with the Group CFO you will lead a high-performing regional finance team and be accountable for end-to-end financial management of the region, including P&L, cash flow, balance sheet integrity, budgeting, forecasting and risk management.
About the role
You will provide strategic financial leadership that supports strong operational decision-making. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the senior financial advisor to the Group CFO and regional leadership team
- Leading and developing the regional finance team
- Owning regional P&L, cash flow, balance sheet and financial sustainability
- Leading budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
- Supporting business cases and financial analysis
- Building financial capability across operational leaders
- Championing strong governance, continuous improvement and compliance
About you
You are an experienced senior finance leader who brings:
- Relevant graduate and post-graduate qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent
- 10–15 years’ experience in senior financial management, including people leadership
- Proven experience managing large-scale budgets, P&L and financial risk
- Strong technical expertise and commercial judgement
- Credibility with senior operational stakeholders
- The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical insights
- A collaborative, values-led leadership style and high personal integrity
