  • Nutraceutical sector
  • Senior finance role based in Nelson
  • Exceptional opportunity to grow your career

MacLab leads the way in the nutraceutical market. Their aquaculture division uses state-of-the-art technology and sustainable practices to farm mussels in the top of the South Island. Using cutting-edge systems, the Nelson factory manufactures high value marine oil products for global export.

With an enviable track record of success over many decades, MacLab continues with fast paced innovation and development to meet the rapidly increasing demand for its products.

The role of Group Accountant reports to the CFO and will take on responsibility for leading the business performance reporting, information systems development and the strategic finance functions, while also providing support to the CFO and the management team. Supported by an Accounting Manager and a small finance team, you will still be involved in the monthly accounting and reporting routines, but the focus will be on the further development of processes and systems to support the business growth; leading the budgeting, financial planning & forecasting and then ensuring the business performance analysis and the statutory reporting is delivered to agreed timelines. As the company looks to capitalise on those new growth opportunities, there will also be plenty of involvement working with the operations teams, as well other projects to keep you busy.

We view this position as an ideal opportunity for candidates who have established themselves in other senior finance roles to take that next step and then further develop as part of the company’s future succession planning. Applicants will have relevant professional qualifications and will need to demonstrate skills/experience in the areas of financial accounting, business analysis & performance reporting, and the ongoing development of the processes/systems. Previous experience in production orientated environments, while not essential is an advantage. On a personal level we are seeking to identify candidates who are well organised, good communicators, proactive and solutions focused in their approach, who can display leadership skills and enjoy contributing as part of the wider team.
