Christchurch, Canterbury
February 18, 2026
- 14-month parental leave contract – starting April 2026
- Part time role 30 hours per week across five days
- Small, supportive team environment | Christchurch-based (Riccarton)
Highford Marketing is a well-established Christchurch business that plays an important role in taking New Zealand primary products to overseas markets. Their success is underpinned by a small, close-knit team that values accuracy, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to doing things well.
They are now seeking an experienced Finance & Administration Manager to join them on a fixed-term contract to cover parental leave from April 2026. This is a pivotal role responsible for the finance function and day-to-day office administration, ensuring the smooth operation of the business. This is a 30 hour per week role to be worked across five days.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee all finance, accounting, and administrative processes within the organisation. The role is also supported by a great Finance Administrator.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing monthly financial statements and management accounts
- Managing cashflow, creditor payments, and foreign exchange coverage
- Overseeing GST, FBT, provisional and terminal tax obligations
- Managing office functions including IT liaison, consumables, and supplier relationships
- Minimising FX exposure through the effective use of forward contracts
- Building strong internal relationships with the wider team, suppliers, and customers
This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys owning the full finance function while remaining hands-on and connected to day-to-day operations.
About You
You will bring prior experience in a senior accounting position and will have the confidence to work in a standalone finance role. You will combine accuracy with sound judgement and a proactive approach.
You will also offer excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively, effective time management and a methodical working style. Experience in an export or international trading environment would be an advantage although not essential.
Why You’ll Enjoy This Role
Highford Marketing offers a rare blend of professionalism, stability, and genuine team connection. You’ll join a business where your contribution is highly valued and where you can make a meaningful impact over the contract term.
