Weft Knitting Company Ltd is a proud New Zealand family-owned business with a long history of producing quality knitwear for both local and international customers. Known for garments that stand the test of time, Weft is built on genuine values – looking after their people, supporting the wider community, and donating a portion of profits to charities close to their hearts. With exceptionally low staff turnover, the Weft team truly is like family.

This opportunity has opened due to the retirement of Weft’s much-loved Finance Manager. Reporting directly to the Founder/Managing Director, as well as working closely with the next generation of leadership, the Finance Manager will bring fresh ideas and perspective.

About the Role

This is a hands-on Finance Manager role where you will take ownership of the company’s financial compliance and reporting, while also being prepared to roll up your sleeves and support some transactional accounting tasks with the help of their fantastic Office Manager.

Alongside the day-to-day, you’ll have the opportunity to step into a business partnering role – bringing fresh financial insights, supporting commercial decision-making, and helping to shape the future direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end financial management and compliance, including reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Oversight of tax obligations (GST, FBT, WHT, AU GST, UK VAT) and other statutory returns
  • Managing banking relationships and foreign exchange requirements
  • Maintaining and developing product costings to support pricing decisions
  • Supporting payroll, debtor, and creditor functions in collaboration with the Office Manager
  • Contributing financial advice and insight to business improvement projects
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the leadership team

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced in both financial and management accounting (ideally in a manufacturing environment)
  • Confident managing compliance and reporting, while comfortable supporting transactional tasks when needed
  • Commercially savvy with the ability to provide meaningful financial advice to support business growth
  • Hands-on, adaptable, and happy to roll with the needs of a family-owned business
  • Relationship-focused, with strong communication and problem-solving skills

Why Join Weft?

  • Be part of a family-owned business that genuinely cares about its people
  • Work in a supportive environment with very low staff turnover
  • Know your work contributes to a company that gives back to the community
  • Enjoy a broad, varied role where you can both manage the numbers and influence the bigger picture
