Our client is a Canterbury provincial based District Council. Currently they are reshaping the way they deliver their water services, which creates an opportunity for an Engineer who is looking for that next step in their career.

The Operations Engineer is a senior operational role with responsibility for the waste water and water treatment operations. While a technical engineering background in 3-waters is preferred, we see this role as offering scope for management development, and so are keen to talk to a range of candidates who are looking for that next step in their career. Leading a team of engineering and technical staff, in an organisation that has plenty of capital projects planned and where business performance improvement can be delivered in a very agile way, there will be plenty to keep you challenged. 

While we expect candidates will hold relevant professional engineering qualifications, we are looking to identify those who can demonstrate some experience in leadership roles. While this role is suited to candidates already working in a local authority, we equally see it as suiting candidates who are working in civil/3-waters construction and or client side engineering consulting, but who want to now get that operational experience, while still having direct involvement in delivering projects.  As part of the strategic asset planning the role is actively engaged in building relationships with key stakeholders across the community so those people skills are important.
