Meadow Mushrooms is seeking a Payroll Specialist with proven experience processing high volume payroll. Reporting to the CFO, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure waged and salary staff are paid correctly and on time every week/month.

This role can be full-time, especially if you have an interest in gaining exposure to areas outside of payroll, but there is flexibility – if you're looking for around 32 hours per week, we can tailor the scope to suit. This could be a great fit if you're seeking balance while still applying your payroll expertise in a well-established, values-driven business.

What you’ll be doing:

• End-to-end payroll processing for both weekly and monthly cycles
• Liaising with managers and team leaders to ensure payroll accuracy
• Managing payroll compliance including PAYE, FBT, and statutory returns
• Maintaining digital records and payroll systems
• Supporting upgrades and contributing to future payroll system improvements
• Responding to payroll-related queries and providing guidance as needed
• Working collaboratively with finance and people teams

What we’re looking for:

• Solid payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume, multi-roster, seven-day environment
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Great time management and the ability to meet fixed deadlines
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to support others
• Familiarity with NZ employment law, tax systems and payroll software

Location: Wilmers Road, Christchurch

Hours: Full time (or part-time 32+ hours by negotiation). This is an office-based role, with an ideal start time of 8am to cover the busy part of the day.
