Smooth-Air is a HVAC business with more than 35 years' industry experience. Based in Christchurch with a nationwide presence, Smooth-Air manufactures, supplies and supports quality heating, ventilation and air conditioning solutions, partnering with customers across residential, commercial and industrial markets.
Currently Smooth-Air is seeking an experienced HR professional to partner with the management team and support a positive, high-performing and safe workplace.
Reporting to the General Manager, this is a broad, hands-on role that combines HR advisory responsibilities across the full employee lifecycle and also includes coordination of the Health & Safety systems. You'll work closely with managers on recruitment, employee relations, performance, organisational development and people initiatives, while ensuring the health and safety framework continues to support a strong culture of safety and compliance.
This role is expected to be 0.6–0.75 FTE, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner seeking flexibility without compromising on the variety or the influence of the role.
About You
You'll be an experienced HR generalist who enjoys building relationships, partnering with operational leaders and providing practical, commercially focused advice. Ideally, you'll bring:
- Five or more years' HR advisory or business partnering experience.
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation.
- Experience managing recruitment, employee relations and performance processes.
- Excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with, or an interest in, coordinating Health & Safety systems.
