The role of Production Engineer is to strengthen and continuously develop SPEX manufacturing capability using effective application of engineering principals, technology, Lean principals and disciplined problem solving. Excellence is achieved when every function works in harmony to create value for the customer. Success and excellence however also rely on the ability to build the right team with the right culture.

Your role touches every function from Product Design to the Logistics and delivery of product to the customer. Whilst your role essentially provides the technical and process engineering support required for successful production of product, you have a key contribution to make in equipment selection and maintenance, the employment of technology and automation including the engagement of AI in order to drive efficiency, reduce waste and facilitate sustainable optimisation. To successfully contribute at each stage of product development and industrialisation of plant and process will rely on your ability to develop productive relationships across the business complimented by effective communication.

To participate at the level the business and your peers will expect in addition to your experience and technical capability, you will be a practitioner in ‘Lean’ principals and be comfortable in using ‘Value Streaming’ analysis as a key efficiency tool. Taking a structured approach together with the use of Data and Root Cause Analysis will be second nature to problem solving and developing streamlined processes. In essence taking a logical, structured approach that is based on sound evidence, and proven theory will be fundamental to ensuring the value that you bring. A background or experience with machinery and automation in soft fabrics manufacturing will give you a head start in being able to add value.
