The Chief Financial Officer role, based in Auckland, will lead the finance functions across both New Zealand and Australia. As CFO, you will oversee a small but capable finance team fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring robust people leadership and encouraging best-practice business partnering. This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation experiencing significant growth, requiring adaptability and a proactive mindset to capitalise on emerging commercial opportunities.

Texel Air is currently embedding a new ERP system (Wiise) across its operations. A key priority for the incoming CFO will be to partner with an external consultant to stabilise and optimise this system and related digital tools. This role calls for a hands-on leader who can drive improvements in financial reporting timelines and enhance forecasting and business performance analysis, offering senior leadership team members well-developed finance business partner capabilities.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in CFO or Group Financial Controller roles, ideally in organisations with complexity and scale. Candidates must demonstrate the following key competencies:

  • People Leadership: proven ability to build inspire and lead high-performing teams.
  • Finance Business partnering: Exceptional commercial acumen, with the ability to provide insight and support to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to drive business performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Technical Expertise: strong accounting and financial management skills, with formal accounting qualifications (CA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Systems and Process development: Experience with ERP systems and business process optimisation, particularly within industries subject to high levels of regulation and compliance such as aviation.
  • Flexibility and Agility: ability to adapt and pivot in response to new opportunities, navigating the challenges and opportunities of a growing business.
  • Technology Savvy: a solid understanding of how digital tools can support efficiency and performance, without necessarily being a technology expert yourself.

While aviation, transport, or logistics experience is an advantage, candidates from other backgrounds with the right leadership and commercial skills will be considered.
