  • Leading and Managing across 4 sizeable and diverse farming operations
  • An integral role within a growing, well respected contributor within Agriculture

Ngāi Tahu Farming is committed to producing sustainable products from the whenua in a way that aligns with their values and purpose. Ngāi Tahu’s values shape their decisions and underpins everything that they set out to achieve.

The reality and success for Ngāi Tahu Farming comes from their focus on and achievement of consistent growth. This comes from actively including the integration of technology, interpretation and understanding of on farm data and consistency in looking for leverage and optimisation across the assets of each operation.

The role of Operations Manager will work closely with the Head of Farming for Dairy Support and Grazing accepting responsibility for the operational efficiency of 4 key, diverse and sizeable operating units spread across North Canterbury each with a Manager reporting in to you. Animal welfare and productivity through to planning appropriate farm systems and best use of land, while exercising strong environmental stewardship and ensuring a safe working environment sits at the centre of sound farm practices.

Whilst not critical, given the size and breadth of the Dairy Support and Grazing operation, success in the role will rely on a rich cross-sectional background of experience that may best suit someone coming from the Dairy sector. Your key levers in the business come from focus and sound planning around Feed, Pasture, land use and Feed budgeting with experience in Agronomy being a useful tool in the toolbox. Leading and developing a team culture that aligns with the values and philosophy of creating for future generations will be a clear focus.

Roles like this within an organisation that has strong growth and expansion clearly on the horizon do not come to market every day. Whilst there will be challenge there will also be opportunity for reward and to expand your contribution.
