St Bede’s College is a Catholic School for boys, with a history in Christchurch from the early 1900’s. It offers both education and a boarding hostel to boys within Canterbury, around New Zealand and also welcomes International Students. 

Reporting to the Rector and supporting the Board at a governance level, the General Manager has the overall responsibility for strategic financial, business & operations leadership and stewardship at the college. As part of the leadership team this is a proactive role that assists in the strategic goal setting and implementation across all finance, property, administration and human resources functions for the college. In summary the role encompasses all aspects of the college’s operations outside of the curriculum, teaching, pastoral care, ministry and boarding, while still having financial oversight for these areas. The role is supported by a small finance team and has other staff responsibilities, including the facilities maintenance. 

In seeking applications we view this role as an excellent opportunity for individuals who are professionally CA qualified, with senior level experience in accounting & finance roles, but who are seeking an opportunity that will offer a broader commercial and management focus. We seek candidates who can also provide proven experience in leading & managing teams, good operational HR knowledge, and understanding of affinity with property management and strong skills in developing business systems. The ability to lead the business planning, analyse business performance and contribute to new revenue growth opportunities are also key prerequisites. 

On a personal level we are seeking to identify candidates with strong communication skills, who are good at building relationships and well organised, while ideally being proactive and solutions focused in their approach.
