I have been recruiting and managing recruitment in Christchurch for over 30 years. Early on I specialised predominantly in accounting & finance recruitment, across a broad range of industry sectors, but after the earthquakes in 2011, the focus became very much about the property & construction sector.
At that time the battle was finding skilled and experienced engineers and construction professionals. Our solution was to further develop our offshore recruitment capabilities, successfully targeting the UK for candidates on ‘work to residency’ pathways to fill the resource needs for clients. Echelon Group are now well established in the UK market and this international reach allows us to deliver a tailored candidate search approach to help resource a number of specific client needs and skills shortages in other sectors.
Our key point of difference though is that we actually take the time to travel to the UK and meet the candidates. Skype is a great recruiting tool, but I am old school and so to truly assess a candidate’s competency and fit, nothing beats that face to face interview.
As such I now work with a broad cross section of clients managing significant senior management appointments, as well continuing to develop the Echelon Group candidate search capabilities.
If I am not in the office you will find me road cycling and mountain biking to keep fit and trout fishing on a lake somewhere for the peace and quiet, so long as I leave the cell phone at home.
